Takakia

Interactive Projection

Collaborative project

London

2024

An immersive, interactive installation that highlights the fragile beauty and urgent plight of Takakia, an ancient moss species on the brink of extinction. Endemic to the Tibetan Plateau and one of the fastest-evolving plants on Earth, Takakia faces an uncertain future due to climate change.
Drawing from climate data spanning 1960 to 2050, we use Touchdesigner to create dynamic visual effects. These visuals are influenced by audience interactions captured through Arduino and Kinect sensors, creating a responsive environment that transforms abstract data into an emotional narrative.
Set within a forest, this installation encourages participants to engage deeply with the visual representation of global change, fostering a tangible connection to the impacts of global warming.

By merging human interaction with climate data, "Takakia: Echoes of Evolution" aims to inspire a sense of responsibility and urgency about the climate crisis.
